Wildcats fall on the road

The St. Paul Wildcats hit the road Friday evening for a road trip to Fairfield to take on the Sandy Creek Cougars.

Shades of the night before against Aurora, The Cats got off to a hot start offensively shooting their way to an early 14-6 lead before Sandy Creek clawed their way back to a 1 point deficit at the halftime break trailing 22-21. The Cougars did most of their damage late in the 3rd quarter getting hot from beyond the arc to take a 33-27 lead. Sandy Creek picked up right where they left off and never looked back in the 4th shooting their way to a 50-37 Victory. The loss drops the Wildcat girls to 3-9.

Katlyn Oakley took Runza MVP honors with 12 points.

The Boys tried to shake off their loss to Aurora with a quick start vs the home team taking an early 13-12 lead into the 2nd quarter. Sandy Creek adjusted in the 2nd quarter stretching a 12-6 tally to take a 24-19 lead at the break. The Cougars went on a 10-0 run pacing their way to a 42-21 3rd quarter lead into the 4th. The Cougars outscored St. Paul 6-3 in the 4th to close out a 48-24 victory. St. Paul falls to 4-8 on the season.

Senior Sam Wells gets Runza MVP with 7 points.

The Cats return to action Tuesday at the Bison Activities Center to take on Central City. Girls and Boys can be heard live on Country 96 and KRGI.com with coverage starting at 5:45 P.M.
