Volleyball: Adams Central Survives St Paul Rally To Win In Five

(Hastings, NE) - A back-and-forth battle Tuesday night at Adams Central High School saw the Patriots win a hard-fought five-set thriller over St. Paul. 25-17, 26-24, 23-25, 18-25, 15-9. After St Paul dropped the first two sets the Cats would rally in the next two sets. In the fourth St. Paul nearly ran away with the set leading at one time 19-9 as the Patriots had several miscues on offense. In the fifth the Cats struggled with serve receive as Adams Central would claim the match in five.
St. Paul was paced by sophomore Katie Oakley with 16 kills, Jessica Vetick with 12 kills, Gracie Mudloff with 9 kills and 5 ace serves, and Gracie Kelley chipped in 11 kills and 2 aces. Adams Central had a huge performance from senior outside hitter Megyn Scott who led the Patriots with 22 kills and sophomore Isabel DeJonge chipped in with 12 kills. Gracie Weichman led the Patriots behind the service line with 13 points.
St. Paul is now 12-4 on the season and will travel to Tilden on Saturday for the Elkhorn Valley Invite. Adams Central is now 11-2 on the season and will host the Adams Central Invite on Saturday.
