State Softball: Pius X Down's Northwest

(Hastings, NE) - The Pius X Thunderbolts defeated Northwest in the first round of the state softball tournament on Wednesday morning by a final score of 9-5. Teams battled the elements with temps in the lower 30s and a south wind starting out for the day at 5-10mph but later expected to gust up to 30mph. 

Pius X would score two runs in the 3rd, three in the 4th, two in the 5th, and two runs in the 6th. The Vikings would get three runs across in the 3rd, and two runs in the 7th. Northwest falls for the third time this season and will be back in action in an elimination game vs Scottsbluff on Thursday, October 17th at 9:00 am. Listen live on 103.1 FM & 2dayfm1031.com.
