St Paul Single Rollover Claims Life Of Merrick County Woman

(St Paul, NE) - On February 8, 2025, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Officers were dispatched to Highway 281 and Adams Street for a single-vehicle rollover. A preliminary investigation concluded that a 2000 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Highway 281, crossing the center line, overcorrecting, entering into the west \ ditch, rolling multiple times, and then striking a billboard. 

The driver, 23-year-old Shawnee Taylor of Merrick County, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported to Howard County Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor. 

The crash is under investigation at this time. No other information will be released at this time. The St. Paul Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Howard County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and St. Paul Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
