St. Francis presents Christina Martinez with DAISY Award
Grand Island— CHI Health St. Francis recognizes Medical/Surgical nurse Christina Martinez, RN, its most recent DAISY Award recipient. Martinez is recognized for excellence in nursing and providing above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and their families.
The hospital chooses one recipient monthly from the many nominations submitted by patients, families and staff.
A grateful patient writes: “She is an amazing nurse that goes above and beyond with her care for her patients. During my stay I was overwhelmed…Her confidence and explanation made me feel that I was well taken care of. I don’t think I could have made it through without her. She demonstrates her compassion with her interactions with patients. It’s the touch of her hand and the empathy in her voice that shows her love in caring for others. She was truly excellent in this situation and I am glad she was there for me when I needed it.”

About The DAISY Foundation: The DAISY Foundation was created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of an auto-immune disease (hence the name, an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.) Patrick received extraordinary care from his nurses, and his family felt compelled to express their profound gratitude for the compassion and skill nurses bring to patients and families every day. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses celebrates nurses in over 1,800 healthcare facilities around the world.
