Just two days after becoming a unanimous selection as the top-ranked volleyball team in the country, Nebraska found themselves in a battle at the Bob Devaney Center.  Northwestern, who entered the match with a losing record, forced the Huskers to four sets before Nebraska closed out the match to improve to 24-0, 15-0 in Big Ten play.  Merritt Beason and Harper Murray led the front row play with 13 kills each; Bekka Allick put up seven blocks.  The Huskers host Illinois Sunday afternoon.


Tonight, Nebraska men’s basketball is back on the floor at PBA, hosting Florida A & M.  Yesterday, the team announced they received letters of commitment from two top prospects - 6’3” shooting guard Nick Janowski of Wisconsin and 6’6” forward Braden Frager of Lincoln Southwest. The Nebraska women also received some key commitments yesterday - the reigning Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year, Elkhorn North senior Britt Prince, said yes to a Husker scholarship offer along with Kennadi Williams of Lincoln Southwest and Amiah Hargrove of Illinois.  Listen tonight on AM 1430 KRGI, 105.5 FM and online at KRGI dot com - coverage begins with Husker Courtside at 6:00.  The women return to action Friday night at Wyoming.


Several area athletes signed national letters of intent yesterday to lock up their collegiate athletic and academic futures.  Carolyn Maser of Grand Island Central Catholic inked a division one offer from Drake University to play volleyball; four athletes signed letters from Grand Island Senior High - Haedyn Hoos is on her way to UNK for volleyball.  Teammate Jaylen Hansen will be playing volleyball at Concordia University.  Ethan Foley signed to play baseball at Coffeyville Community College, while Jaxson Nesvara will play baseball at Dordt.
