Spirit and Undertaker Tours to Kick Off Halloween Festivities

Grand Island, Neb. — In the matter of weeks, visiting downtown Grand Island can get downright spooky!

Railside is bringing back its annual Spirit Tours, but this year the downtown business district is also adding a “one night only” special of Undertaker Tours. The Spirit Tours will take place on both Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5 with tours being hosted at both 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Undertaker Tours will also take place at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., but only on Friday, October 11.

Tickets are $25 plus tax, and can be ordered at https://www.eventbrite.com/. The tours max out at 20 people and are already nearing capacity. Railside Director Shery Siwinski says the event has really taken off during its four-year run.

“Grand Island has such a rich history and has so many ghost stories down here that I thought ‘oh the two just go together so naturally,’” Siwinski said. “We always hear ‘there’s nothing to do here,’ but if you really pay attention and look Grand Island has a lot to offer.”

While there’s no guarantee you’ll encounter a spirit from another realm, the tours do feature the spirits you can drink! Jackie Bowen, the owner of The Happy Brush, says Railside is happy to be home to these events, and business owners are eager to take part every year.

“There’s sort of a camaraderie between all of the participants because they’re all experiencing it together,” Bowen said. “It’s a fun event that you can experience in a larger city.”
