Public Input Welcome on Heartbeat Creative District
The public is invited to a meeting meant to inform and provide an opportunity for input about Heartbeat Creative District planning, as well as other summer programming.
The PULSE quarter 2 meeting will be 2-3 p.m., Thursday, June 11 in Hastings Public Library Meeting Room B.
Items to be discussed during this meeting include the Summer Sounds concert series, next steps for the planned painted crosswalk project and the proposed painted pianos project.
The Heartbeat Creative District was awarded a $100,000 Creative District Development Grant in March for painted crosswalks on First Street in downtown; as well as sculptures and a mid-block crossing at the Hastings Public Library's greenspace.
The PULSE planning group – Partners Undertaking Local Solutions for Expression – is the multi-faceted partnership created to develop and organize the Heartbeat Creative District. Members include City representatives, business owners, artists, and other city leaders by attending meetings and gathering data to bring the ideas from the strategic plan to fruition, but anyone is invited to attend.
The Nebraska Creative District Program utilizes the arts as an economic driver to support communities in Nebraska by telling their stories and elevating the value of the arts.
Also known as the Hastings Art & Beat District, the Heartbeat District encompasses the historic downtown area and is bounded by Burlington Avenue, Eastside Boulevard, Seventh Street and the BNSF Railway.
