Potential For Slick Conditions on Friday

National-Weather-Service

Friday afternoon/evening is a period during which a light, wintry mix will impact most of south central Nebraska and north central Kansas.
*Not a major storm but probably worthy of planning a few extra travel minutes for games/activities/bus routes into the evening.
*Any snow should not be as "heavy" as the snow shower/burst that moved through some areas Tuesday evening.
*The precipitation moves out of the area by Saturday morning.
*Most impactful time is likely the Friday afternoon "rush" and into the evening hours.
*No webinar/call is expected at this time. Emails with forecast information will be sent in the coming couple days.

In north central Kansas...
*Mixture of very light freezing drizzle and/or very light snow/even some rain.
*Timing: Starts 1 to 3 PM Friday (or so). Ends: Midnight to 3 AM (Saturday)
*Most steady precipitation between 5 pm and 9 pm.
*Potential exists for a light glaze/slick spots and briefly reduced visibility.
*If your school has a game(s) for which travel is required in north central Kansas, or east along and north of Highway 36 in northeast Kansas, your travel will be impacted.

In south central Nebraska....
*Mixture of very light freezing drizzle, light snow and/or a brief period of light sleet or snow grains
*Timing: Starts 3 to 6 PM Friday (or so). Ends 2 AM to 6 AM (Saturday)
*Most steady precipitation between 6 PM and Midnight
*Potential exists for light glaze/slick spots and reduced visibility.
*If your school has a game(s) for which travel is required along and east of Highway 281 especially (and into eastern Nebraska), your travel will be impacted.

Very brief look ahead for everyone...
*No major storms on the horizon.
*Potential glancing light snow/mix event from late Monday (16th) into Tuesday evening (17th). *Favors south central Nebraska, especially along/north of I-80.
*Early signs for Christmas Day: Above normal temperatures and generally quiet weather in the immediate region.
