NW Grad: Griess Falls In 2nd Round At NCAA Tournament

(Kansas City, MO) - It would be a 1-1 performance at the NCAA tournament for Northwest graduate Grady Griess wrestling (285) for the Navy Midshipmen. #17 Griess would claim a 4-1 win in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday morning defeating Cory Day of Binghamton. Griess would then advance to a match on Thursday night vs #1 Greg Kerkvliet of Penn State, falling 9-1. Griess fell behind early 4-0 after the first period. Four more points from Kerkvliet would follow in the 2nd period on an escape and takedown. One more point would follow for Kerkvliet for riding time. Griess would claim his lone point in the match with a 3rd-period escape. 

Griess will now fight for his season as he falls into the wrestlebacks that will start on Friday morning in Kansas City.
