Northwest football rolls Hastings for win number two
(Hastings, NE) - The Northwest football team defeated the Hastings Tigers on Friday night by a score of 38-14 at Hastings College. Northwest would get scores from Austin Payne on a short touchdown run in the first quarter followed by a double pass from Arends to Wiegert to make it 14-0. A ball popped loose from Joe Stein at the goal line would be recovered by Hunter Jensen in the endzone in the second quarter would make it 21-0. Then quarterback Austin Payne would hit Tegan Lemkau on a 51 yard touchdown pass to add six and the PAT from Payton Atwood. Hastings would get their first score of the night on a bobbled Northwest snap that would turn into a 47 yard scoop and score for the Tigers making the score 28-7 Vikings going into the halftime break. In the third quarte,r Northwest would have their second 51 yard touchdown pass of the night. This time Payne to Hunter Jensen for the strike extending the lead to 35-7. Peyton Atwood would tack on a 23-yard field goal for the final points for the Vikings. Hastings would add a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Northwest would have 495 total yards in the game with 411 coming from the air attack and 84 yards rushing from the Vikings. Hastings would finish the game with 214 yards total. 150 passing and 64 yards rushing. Hastings is now 1-5 on the season and will be back in action next Friday at Scottsbluff.
