Northwest Basketball Wraps Up Doane Holiday Tournament

(Crete, NE) - The Northwest basketball teams traveled to the Doane Holiday Basketball Tournament on Thursday, December 28th, and Friday, December 29th. The Northwest girls would go 1-1 falling to Omaha Skutt Catholic on Thursday 64-30. Friday Northwest would bounce back with a 64-35 win against Maryville, Missouri. Northwest girls are now 6-5 on the season. 

The Northwest boys would go 0-2 in the four-team tournament. The Vikings would fall to Skutt Catholic Thursday in the opening round 69-42. Northwest would be in a back-and-forth affair on Friday vs Marryville, Missouri but the Vikings in the end would fall by one point 49-48. Vikings had a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter 11-10 but trailed at halftime 25-19. Northwest would then be down 38-30 and the end of the third. The Vikings would come back in the fourth quarter to tie the game but would never take the lead only to trail by single digits the rest of the way. With five seconds left in the game, Northwest had possession of the ball to look to win the game down one. After a Northwest time out the Vikings unfortunately would be called for a travel that would ultimately end the game. The Viking boys are now 2-7 on the season.
