Mural competition to welcome students from 35 high schools

(Hastings, Nebraska) – More than 200 high school students from 35 schools across Nebraska will be at Hastings College for the ninth annual Jackson Dinsdale Art Center Mural Competition on Wednesday, October 2.

Working in teams, students from each school will create 36 x 60 inch vinyl murals using paint, which will then be judged by Hastings College senior art majors. The creative theme for the competition is not announced until students are on campus for the 10:00 a.m. welcome. It’s a challenging and fun event for students!

The top three teams receive awards. After the event, teams are allowed to take their murals to hang in their high schools. Teams will design and create their artwork outside in the parking lot between the JDAC and Gray Center (1100 N. Elm Avenue).
