MCC Golfers complete second round at nationals

HOBBS, N.M. – Two McCook Community College golfers completed the half-way mark of the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship at Rockwind Links.

After shooting a 76 on Tuesday, freshman Andrew Brown, (Wollongong, Australia) posted a 78 Wednesday and is +12 for the tournament at 154.

Freshman Matt Grimonprez (Villenuave-d’ascq, France) improved by three shots on Tuesday with an 83.

McClennan Community College (Texas) has taken over the lead in the 24-team field with a two-over 570. New Mexico Junior College and Central Alabama are tied for second at 573.

Region IX champ Eastern Wyoming fell six spots Tuesday and are in 16th place with a +24 two-day score of 592.

Three golfers are tied for the individual lead at the midway point of the four-day tournament at 136 – six shots under par.

The four-day tournament continues Thursday and concludes Friday.
