Lindstrom Trying For Late Governor Run
After a failed attempt to try and qualify as the Republican Party Candidate for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, Former State Senator Brett Lindstrom isn’t giving up his political ambitions for the 2026 election. On Monday Lindstrom filed paperwork with the secretary of state’s office to enter as a nonpartisan candidate for Governor.
Lindstrom ran for Governor in 2022, finishing in 3rd in the Republican Primary behind now Governor Jim Pillen and Charles Herbster. Lindstrom enters a crowded field for Governor as Jim Pillen is seeking re-election as the Republican candidate while squaring off against Democratic Candidate Lynn Walz and running for the Legalize Marijuana Now Party is Rick Beard.
Lindstrom faces an uphill battle to qualify for the ballot; he would need 4000 signatures including 750 from each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts before August 3rd.
Lindstrom served as a State Senator for District 18 from 2015-2023.
