Light Up the Night 5K for Mental Health is Sept. 6–Register Online by Aug. 26
Kearney, NE - Registration is now open for Light Up the Night 5K Run/Walk on Friday, Sept. 6 at Yanney Park in Kearney. Coordinated by CHI Health Richard Young Behavioral Health, the annual Glow Race and Family Fun Night for Mental Health raises awareness, supports recovery and encourages resilience.
Celebrating its 11th anniversary, the fun night starts at 5 pm with a live DJ and kids games. Children age 13 and under, for a $10 donation collected at the event, can participate in the kids games, the 5K race and will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.
Before the race, Ashley Popple and her family will share their story about hope and resilience after losing a loved one to suicide.
Race checkin-in begins at 5 p.m. in the park’s south parking lot with the race starting at 7 p.m.
Prizes for the top three race finishers will be awarded. Prizes will also be awarded for best glow attire, best energy and best group effort to support mental health.
Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Participants age 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult and participants age 17 and younger must have signed parent/guardian consent.
Day-of-race registration is available, but only participants who pre-register by Aug. 26 will receive a commemorative T-shirt and personal glow items. Entry is $27 plus fees. To pre-register visit chihealthevents.com.
Proceeds benefit the Richard Young fund at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Foundation. This fund serves both adult and youth behavioral health patients from across the state providing medication, transportation, clothing and other basic needs.
