Knife assault & Grand Island CVS robbery leads to arrest
(Grand Island, NE) - Thursday, December 30th, Grand Island Police were dispatched to 818 West 3rd Street (Salvation Army) at 3:20 pm. Michael Lopez attempted to rob victims with a knife and then attempted to run over a victim with a motor vehicle in the parking lot of the Salvation Army. One victim had a superficial injury by the knife to his index finger. The victim did not need medical attention. After the altercation at the Salvation Army, Lopez then drove to the CVS pharmacy location at 1710 West 2nd Street. Lopez entered CVS and verbally directed the cashier to open multiple cash registers from which he removed cash and then fled the store. In linking Lopez to both altercations he was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd degree, Attempted Robbery, Use of A Weapon to Commit a Felony, and a Robbery Charge to the CVS store.
