Island Oasis Water Park Study– Upcoming Public Meeting

The City of Grand Island and Island Oasis Water Park welcome you to attend a public meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. at City hall, located at 100 E. 1st St., Grand Island, NE 68801. Join us to hear about conditions at Island Oasis Water Park and what the community is saying about the future of swimming at Island Oasis. Get a sneak peek at improvement options and a concept of community-generated ideas for improvements at the water park.

The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Consultants will be available after the presentation to discuss your ideas and feedback.
Island Oasis Water Park opened in 1993 with numerous amenities that can still be found at the facility today, along with a lazy river and water slides that have been added since opening. Over time, Island Oasis Water Park has experienced lower attendance and cost recovery. For this reason, the City of Grand Island commissioned a Comprehensive Facility Evaluation and Master Plan for Island Oasis Water Park to develop a plan that will meet community needs now and in the future, while improving operational and financial sustainability. The City of Grand Island hired Waters Edge Aquatic Design, an aquatics-based engineering and design firm, to conduct the study and to help develop the future of Island Oasis Water Park. The study will provide direction on improvements to ensure the City of Grand Island offers a unique facility that serves the community of Grand Island well into the future. Key components of the study include:

○ Understand current conditions at Island Oasis Water Park
○ Study the market area
○ Evaluate current and future needs
○ Identify trends and recommend elements and amenities
○ Conceptual design options and costs
○ Operating projections

The public meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2022 is the second of three meetings for the
study and we welcome you to join the conversation to help plan for the future of aquatics in
Grand Island. To learn more about the project, please visit
