Senior Kassidy Hymer of St. Paul recently signed her letter of intent to run Cross Country and Track and Field at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The KRGI Sports Network recently got the thoughts of Cross Country Head Coach Don Kleinsasser on what the Prairie Wolves are getting in Hymer.

"I am thrilled to share that Kassidy has decided to continue her running career at the collegiate level. Throughout high school, she demonstrated admirable perseverance and grit, constantly setting goals to improve herself even when facing adversity. Her leadership was invaluable to our team - she readily stepped up to mentor our junior high girls, becoming a role model that the younger runners looked up to like a big sister. Qualifying for state was a goal that motivated Kassidy throughout her high school running tenure. Though she fell just short, twice missing the mark by a narrow margin, it was not for lack of talent or effort. This season, she placed 24th in our highly competitive district where making state was particularly challenging - still an impressive finish that would have qualified her in multiple other districts.

As Kassidy's coach for the past four years, I could not be prouder to see her take the next step. She will be greatly missed for her infectious smile that lit up our team and her boundless energy that electrified every practice and meet. At the same time, I am heartened that the underclassmen will continue to benefit from and be inspired by the tremendous work ethic and enduring love for running that Kassidy modeled during her high school career. Capping off her time with our program, Kassidy earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors not just once but twice, a prestigious accolade for any high school runner. The collegiate team that has gained Kassidy's commitment is so fortunate to be welcoming both a talented athlete and phenomenal young woman brimming with potential. The future is undoubtedly bright for her!"
