The Huskers return home riding a four-game winning streak after a thrilling 87-84 overtime win at Iowa on Thursday night.

Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year candidate Britt Prince led five Huskers in double figures with 22 points on a career-high five three-pointers, while adding seven rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals in a tremendous all-around effort.

Three-time All-Big Ten center Alexis Markowski added 19 points and seven boards, while sophomores Jessica Petrie and Logan Nissley each added 13 points to help the Huskers overcome a 64-53 fourth-quarter deficit to earn their first win in Iowa City since 2018.

True freshman Amiah Hargrove added a huge night with her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for the Big Red.

Monday's game with Wisconsin will feature several significant streaks. Nebraska puts the Big Ten's longest home winning streak (14) on the line, along with an eight-game winning streak in the series with Wisconsin. The Huskers have won nine straight in Lincoln against the Badgers, who have never won inside Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Wisconsin, which is trying to snap a six-game overall losing streak, brings its best team to Lincoln since Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011-12. All six losses during UW's streak have come against NET top-50 Big Ten teams, including Thursday's 80-69 loss to AP No. 9 and unbeaten Ohio State.

Husker Hot Takes
• Husker freshman Britt Prince led Nebraska to its first road wins at Rutgers (Jan. 12) and at Iowa (Jan. 16) since 2018 by averaging 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. The 5-11 guard's road swing included a career-high 24 points at Rutgers, and career highs of five three-pointers and six steals at Iowa. Prince has increased her season averages to 13.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and team bests of 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals. Prince, who has produced double figures in five straight games, owns 13 double-digit efforts this season, including four 20-point performances.

• Lisa Leslie Award candidate Alexis Markowski averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in getting her first career wins at Iowa and Rutgers. The only Husker to start all 18 games this year, the 6-3 center from Lincoln owns team-best averages of 14.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in all four games of Nebraska's current winning streak, including a career-high 28 points in NU's last home game in an 85-80 win over No. 20 Michigan State (Jan. 8). Markowski owns a school-record 47 career double-doubles, which ranks fourth among active NCAA Division I players. Her most recent double-double came with 14 points and 14 rebounds at Rutgers.

• Sophomore Jessica Petrie contributed the two best games of her career in NU's back-to-back road wins, stepping up in place of injured 2024 Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year Natalie Potts. Petrie, a 6-2 power forward from Gold Coast, Australia, averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds at Rutgers and Iowa. Petrie is averaging 8.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in starting six straight Big Ten games.

• Freshmen Amiah Hargrove and Petra Bozan also have stepped up to fill the void left by the loss of Potts to a season-ending knee injury (Nov. 19). Hargrove has scored in double figures five times in the last 12 games, including her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in the win at Iowa. In Big Ten play, Hargrove is averaging 6.6 points and 5.0 rebounds.

• Bozan has played a major role in support behind Markowski at center while adding flexibility. The 6-5 center is averaging 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, including significant contributions in Big Ten wins over Minnesota (9 points, 5 rebounds), Penn State (8 points, 6 rebounds) and Rutgers (8 points, 4 rebounds).

• Nebraska's success on its recent Big Ten road trip was more significant because the Huskers had to overcome the loss of fourth-year guard Allison Weidner to a season-ending right leg injury in practice on Jan. 11 before traveling to Rutgers. It is the third serious injury for Weidner, ending her third straight season prematurely. Weidner, a 5-10 guard from Humphrey, Neb., was coming off her best game of the season with 11 points and six assists in Nebraska's 85-80 win over No. 20 Michigan State (Jan. 8). The Huskers dedicated their performance at Rutgers to Weidner and have now dedicated their efforts this season to both Weidner and Potts.

Husker Numbers to Watch
• Markowski (1,105) needs five rebounds to catch Jordan Hooper at No. 3 (1,110, 2011-14) and just nine rebounds to match Emily Cady (1,114, 2012-15) at No. 2 on Nebraska's all-time rebounding list. Janet Smith (1,280, 1979-82) owns the top spot on NU’s career rebound chart.

• With seven rebounds at Iowa, Markowski joined Hooper (2,357 points) as just the second Husker in history to reach the combined career milestones of 1,600 points and 1,100 rebounds.

• Alexis Markowski (47) owns the top spot on Nebraska’s career double-doubles list, seven more than first-team All-Americans Kelsey Griffin (40, 2006-10) and Jordan Hooper (40, 2011-14).

• Markowski (1,627) ranks No. 12 on Nebraska’s all-time scoring list. She needs 46 points to match first-round WNBA Draft pick Lindsey Moore (2010-13) at No. 11 on the NU all-time scoring list with 1,673 points.

Nebraska Notables

• Over the past two seasons combined (2022-23 & 2023-24), Nebraska center Alexis Markowski had more total rebounds (691) than any other Big Ten player. Fifth-year forward Kendall Bostic (686) from Illinois was right behind Markowski. The only other Big Ten player to collect as many as 550 total rebounds over the previous two seasons was Iowa’s Caitlin Clark (557). Indiana All-America center Mackenzie Holmes had 442 - nearly 250 fewer rebounds than Markowski.

• Nebraska has claimed two of the past three Big Ten Freshman of the Year awards, following the 2024 honor earned by Natalie Potts. Alexis Markowski was the 2022 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

• Since Nebraska joined the Big Ten for the 2011-12 season, no other school has won more Big Ten Conference Freshman-of-the-Year awards than the Huskers - Nebraska (3), Maryland (3), Minnesota (3), Ohio State (2), Michigan (1), Iowa (1), Northwestern (1).

Scouting the Wisconsin Badgers

• Sophomore Carter McCray, a 6-1 center, has solidified Wisconsin's play inside by averaging 9.5 points and 6.8 rebounds as a starter alongside Williams.

• Ronnie Porter provides the motor on both offense and defense for the Badger backcourt. The 5-4 junior is averaging 9.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and team bests of 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals. However, Ohio State held Porter and McCray to a combined six points in UW's loss Thursday.

• Graduate guard Natalie Leuzinger has added solid play with 8.1 points and 2.3 rebounds while hitting 40.4 percent of her three-point attempts.

Markowski In NU's 1,500-Point/1,000-Rebound Club

• Markowski and Hooper are the only players in Nebraska history to reach the combined career milestones of 1,600 points and 1,100 rebounds.

Markowski Joins Elite Rebounders in NU History

• Nebraska All-America candidate Alexis Markowski joined one of the most elite groups in Husker history by pulling down her 1,000th career rebound in the fourth quarter at Creighton (Nov. 22).

• The 6-3 center from Lincoln became just the sixth Husker women’s basketball player and just the eighth Nebraska men’s or women’s player to reach the 1,000 milestone on the boards.

Husker Freshmen Featuring Efficiency

• Britt Prince is the leader of a talented freshman trio for Nebraska. While Prince has earned headlines by starting at point guard and putting up some of the best numbers in history by a Big Red rookie, fellow freshmen Amiah Hargrove and Petra Bozan have been dynamic inside.

• Hargrove is coming off her first career double-double and fifth double-figure scoring effort of the season with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in a career-high 28 minutes in an overtime win at Iowa (Jan. 16). She hit 3-of-4 shots including 2-of-3 threes and both free throws against the Hawkeyes while adding a career-high two blocks.

• Hargrove erupted for a career-high 13 points in a win over Tarleton State (Dec. 11). She hit 5-of-6 shots, including a three-pointer, while adding three rebounds and a steal. She also led Nebraska with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting at No. 1 UCLA (Dec. 29). She also had 10 points and eight rebounds in a Big Ten-opening win over previously unbeaten Minnesota (Dec. 8).

• The 6-1 forward from Christopher, Ill., added 10 points and seven rebounds in a win over Kansas City (Nov. 26). She made back-to-back starts against Chattanooga (Dec. 15) and No. 17 Georgia Tech (Dec. 21). Hargrove also played a major role in NU's win over No. 20 Michigan State (Jan. 8) with seven points and six rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.

• Perhaps the most amazing part of the double-figure scoring performances for the Big Red through 18 games is that all five games have featured a different group of scorers that have ultimately included all 12 players on the active roster at the start of the season.

• In the win at Iowa (Jan. 16), five Huskers put up double figures, including Britt Prince-22, Alexis Markowski-19, Logan Nissley-13, Jessica Petrie-13 and Amiah Hargrove-10.
