Howard Resigns As Chief Of St. Paul Police
On Wednesday in a Facebook Post, St. Paul Police Chief Dan Howard submitted his resignation to the City citing his last day being St. Paul's Top Cop will be on July 17th.
"Today, I officially submitted my resignation as Chief of Police for the City of St. Paul.
I wanted everyone to hear it directly from me rather than through rumors or speculation. This was not an easy decision. Serving the citizens of St. Paul has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of working alongside dedicated officers, city employees, first responders, and so many members of this incredible community. I am truly grateful for the trust and support you've shown me.
My last day with the department will be July 17. I'll continue serving with the same commitment and professionalism through my final shift. While this chapter is coming to an end, I'm excited for the opportunity to begin a new one with another agency. Law enforcement has always been my calling, and I look forward to continuing to serve.
I also want to share that we will not be moving from St. Paul. My kids will continue attending St. Paul Public Schools, and my wife will continue working for Brookefield Park. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, my family, and the St. Paul Police Department throughout this journey."
Howard got his start in public service in 2007 working with the Nebraska Department of Corrections then serving multiple agencies since including Seward County Corrections, Ord Volunteer Fire Department and the City of St. Paul. He ran for Howard County Sheriff this past election cycle.
