Howard County Names Hoff Interim Sheriff

Howard County Sheriff Mike Hoff

(St Paul, NE) - The Howard County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday morning to make the final decision on naming an interim sheriff for the county. On March 12th the board accepted the resignation of Sheriff Tom Busch, who is now the new manager of Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island. Busch served Howard County in the roles as a deputy and sheriff for 20 years.

Commissioners in March did not appoint an interim instead, they moved to accept applications for the position. Current board member Jessie Urbanski and former Howard County Sherriff Harold Schenk conducted the interviews. In the end, current Howard County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mike Hoff stood out the most. Urbanski recommended Hoff be chosen as the Sherriff on an interim basis for the remainder of Busch's term which is 2 years and 7 months. Urbanski along with other members Kath Hirschman and Gary Rasmussen voted in favor of appointing Hoff, who recently this past Sunday celebrated 20 years with the Howard County Sherriff's Office.
