Heartland United Way Announces Educational Opportunities for Welcoming Week
Welcoming Week begins on Friday. Hear interviews with Celine Swan and Yolanda Nuncio plus another with Karen Rathke with Brian Gallagher.
Grand Island, NE – September 9, 2024 – Heartland United Way and the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation are thrilled to join the Grand Island Welcoming Week celebrations, taking place from September 13th to September 22nd. This initiative, dedicated to fostering an inclusive community, brings together public and private organizations along with local residents to support and celebrate Grand Island’s immigrant and refugee populations, while promoting a culture of welcome and belonging.
As part of these celebrations, Heartland United Way and the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation are excited to host three educational sessions on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Inclusive Leadership Workshops with Bart Bailey of Courage to Care:
Session 1: 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the Bosselman Venue (Conference Center)
Session 2: 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM at the Bosselman Venue
Light meals provided.
Power of We: Honoring Our Stories and Having the Courage to Disrupt Them:
Session: 3:30 – 5:30 PM at the Grand Island Public Library.
Snacks and Beverages provided.
About the Trainings:
Inclusive Leadership: Designed for business partners, board members, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders, this workshop focuses on engaging in meaningful conversations around Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to foster a culture of belonging.
Power of We: This interactive session explores individual identity and its impact on decision-making, aiming to enhance support and personal agency through shared experiences and actionable insights.
