Grand Island Public Library to Celebrate 140th Birthday
Grand Island, Neb. — On Friday, October 11, the Grand Island Public Library will celebrate its 140th birthday in true library fashion.
To mark the special occasion, there will be a special musical performance by accomplished harpist Lauren Meier from 2-3 p.m. Meier will captivate attendees with her enchanting melodies to help mark this milestone.
Her performance will be a highlight of the day's festivities by offering a blend of classical pieces that will resonate with both the young and the old, while also echoing the library's mission to inspire and strengthen the community through art and knowledge. The day will also include a “Cookie Monster Storytime,” tours and more!
The Grand Island Public Library, which first opened its doors more than a century ago, has been a cornerstone of community education and culture. This anniversary event not only celebrates the library's rich history, but also its ongoing role in fostering a love for learning, arts and community interaction in Grand Island.
