GIPS to provide free meals to all students for 2021-2022 school year
Grand Island Public Schools will provide free meals to all students for the 2021-22 school year. Completing a free and reduced meal application is not required and all students will continue to receive free meals for the 2021-22 school year no matter the outcome of the confirmation of benefits of your household’s SY 2021-22 meal application.
However, there are still benefits your student(s) may be eligible for by completing a meal application and the sharing information form.
If confirmed that your student is eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals based on USDA income requirements, the meal benefits may carry over up to 30 school days into SY 2022-23, which may be of benefit if free meals are not extended to all students next year.
Households may be eligible for Pandemic-EBT SNAP benefits through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Students that are approved for free meals with an application can receive free band instruments, free scholarship applications, GISH Health Center benefits and other free services.
Although meals are free, please understand that extras such as second entrees, a la carte items and extra milks and/or milk to go with a lunch brought from home are not free. Please put funds on your student(s) meal account if they would like to purchase these items.
Please complete a meal application if you believe your household is eligible. Meal applications and sharing forms can be found on our website (under the Services tab) or visit https://family.titank12.com for online applications. You can also pick up a meal application at your child’s school or at the Kneale Administration Building at 123 S Webb Rd.
