GICC Softball Picks Up Road Win At Twin River


(Genoa, NE) - The GICC softball team downed Twin River on Thursday night by a final score of 7-5. The Crusaders would jump on top with a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Twin River then answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. GICC would then answer with two more runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Twin River would muster up three more runs later in the contest in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game at 5-5.

GICC would have the final say in the contest in the top of the sixth scoring two runs. Tibbetts would smack a double to center. Palik would then hit a ground ball that would lead to an error. Blake then popped a fly ball to left but Twin River would commit another error allowing Tibbetts to score. Renz would then ground out to shortstop bringing in the second run of the top of the sixth scoring Palik from 3rd base. 

GICC with the win is 12-9 on the season. Twin River drops only their fifth game of the season and is now 20-5. Crusaders will have the weekend off and will be back in action on Tuesday, September 24th traveling to Freeman for a triangular with Freeman and Wahoo.
