GICC Boys Golf Advances to State

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island Central Catholic boys golf team is headed back to the Class C state golf tournament claiming the runner-up spot on Tuesday at Indianhead Golf Course. The Crusaders hosting the C-4 district meet fired a team score of 317. Doniphan Trumbull claimed the top team spot with a score of 306. Heartland was third with a 339 score, also qualifying for state. On the individual side of things, GICC junior Bowdie Fox picked up the district championship firing a 65. Fox had five birdies and one eagle on the day. Also finishing in the top 10 was GICC senior Jackson Henry with an 80. Crusaders will now play in the Class C state tournament at the Elks Country Club in Columbus on May 24th and 25th. St Paul sophomore Sam Wells qualified for state for the Wildcats finishing 6th with a 77. Below listen to comments from GICC head golf coach Craig Rupp.
