GICC Basketball Splits At Seward

(Seward, NE)—The GICC basketball teams traveled to Seward on Saturday to take on the Bluejays. Due to the impending winter weather and slick conditions on the way back to GI, games were moved up two hours. The Seward girls won the first game of the doubleheader 56-33. Seward would lead from start to finish with a 31-12 lead at the halftime break and lead after three quarters 46-22. The Crusader girls slip to 4-5, and Seward is now 7-3. 

In the boy's game, the Crusaders would win their sixth game in a row with a 62-56 victory. GICC would get off to a hot start jumping on top 10-1 to force a Seward time-out at the 5:00 minute mark of the 1st quarter. Seward would then crawl back into the game tying the contest at 10 and then taking a 13-10 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. From then on, the game would go back and forth. The Crusaders would cling to a three-point lead at halftime 28-25 and have a two-point lead going into the fourth quarter 45-43. Crusader boys are now 8-2 on the season with Seward dropping to 2-8. 

Both GICC squads will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 10th at Kearney Catholic. Listen live on KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com. The girls' game is at 6:00 pm, and the boys' game is at 7:30 pm.
