Offense: Sexual Assault

Brief Narrative: On 6/11/2024 at approximately 1751 hours, Officers were dispatched reference a sexual assault of a child. Upon Officers arrival, contact was made with the juvenile female victim. The juvenile female stated that her mother's boyfriend, identified as James Zaleski, had inappropriately touched her underneath her clothing for sexual gratification. Zaleski was charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

Location of Incident: 2114 W. 2nd Street; Apt 231
Brief Narrative: Officers were dispatched reference a possible child abuse. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult female who reported that Gregory Knotts was living at 2114 W. 2nd Street; Apt 231, Grand Island, Nebraska. An administrative record check through the Nebraska State Sex Offender Registry revealed that Gregory was registered as transient on 1/10/2024. Officers contacted an employee at 2114 W. 2nd Street (Residence Suites), who advised room 231 was rented by a male on 06/03/2024. Officers went to room 231 and contacted Gregory. Gregory advised officers that he is not allowed to rent a room, so the individual rented the room for Gregory. Gregory advised officers that he has lived in room 231 since 06/03/2024. Due to Gregory being a sex offender and not registering his new address within three days with the state he was arrested for Violate Sex Registry Class IIIA Felony.

Brief Narrative: On 06/11/2024 officers responded 2114 W 2nd St, Resident Suites Inn, reference a call for service. Upon arrival, officers contacted Abdikarim Ahmed-Shiil near the lobby of Resident Suites. While speaking with paramedics, Abdikarim pulled out a white, over-the-counter, Acetaminophen pill bottle. Inside the bottle, officers observed approximately 10 white, oval pills with, "M365" embossed on one side. These pills were determined to be Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone Bitartrate pills, a Schedule II drug. Abdikarim received a citation for Possession of a Schedule II Substance and Unlawful Acts Related to Drugs.

Brief Narrative: Victim reported being grabbed by the neck, which impeded her normal breathing. She identified the suspect but became uncooperative and declined interest in becoming a victim and pursuing criminal action.

Victim: Thrifty Car Rental & Central NE Regional Airport Incident #: L24060918

Location of Incident: 3772 Sky Park Rd
Brief Narrative: Reporting party reported someone to have broken in to the lockbox inside the Central Nebraska Regional Airport and took the key fob from within it. A Toyota pickup was stolen from the parking lot, for which the key fob belonged to. Also, an employee with the airport reported several bathroom fixtures to have been deliberately damaged. Case is under investigation.

Location of Incident: 3021 S Locust
Brief Narrative: On 6-11-2024 at around 1641 hrs officer made contact with an adult female at the Grand Island Police Department. The female victim advised that she attempted to get a loan and the two companies that she contacted, got access to her checking and savings account. In doing so they also advised the female to gather multiple gift cards, scratch off the serial numbers and send the numbers back to the scammer. The amount in gift cards that the
victim purchased with her money was found to be $7,000. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
