GI Home Federal Host Pius X Wednesday

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island Home Federal baseball team will return home Wednesday, July 3rd hosting Pius X Union Bank & Trust for a doubleheader starting at Noon. Game two (On KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com) will follow at approximately 2:30 pm. GI is coming into the matchup with a 23-8 record after going 3-2 at the Mike Peterson Tournament in Lincoln this past weekend. Home Federal matchup with Pius X on Friday winning by a final score of 11-2. GI had a big top of the 5th inning in that game opening up the scoring with six runs and adding three more runs in the 7th inning for the victory. The loss for Pius X snapped a 16-game winning streak. Pius X will come into today's matchup with a 28-8 record.

After today's doubleheader at Ryder Park the Cornhusker League All-Star game will take place at Duncan Field in Hastings. The Cornhusker League All-Stars from teams Columbus, Hastings, Grand Island, Kearney, and North Platte will take on the Hastings Sodbusters summer team. Action to start at 6:35 pm.
