GI Baseball Downs Millard South 2-1 Saturday

(Grand Island, NE) - Both teams were strong on the hill on Saturday, but Grand Island defeated Millard South 2-1. Dyllan Hinrichs started the game for Grand Island and recorded 12 outs. Grand Island opened the scoring in the second after an error scored one run. Noah Carroll doubled, which helped Millard South tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. GI took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. An error scored one run, to give the Islanders the advantage, 2-1.

Hinrichs earned the win for GI, allowing two hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Noah Gartner took the loss for Millard South. The reliever went one and one-third innings, giving up one run (zero earned) on one hit, striking out two and walking two. Brandon Berge stepped on the hill first for Millard South. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Cedric Sullivan pitched three innings of no-run ball for Grand Island in relief. They gave up zero hits, striking out five and walking one. 

Gabe Ruiz led Grand Island Islanders Varsity 2024 with two hits in two at-bats.
