Cats play tough at Home; Fall to Boone Central 23-7.

After a heartbreaker to Cross County last week the St. Paul Wildcats returned home for a tough contest with the Boone Central Cardinals at Wildcat Field. The Cards got off to the quick start as running back Brogan Benes broke a 53 yard run 3:01 into the first quarter to take an early 6-0 lead as they missed the PAT to round out the first quarter scoring.

The Cards wasted no time scoring in the 2nd taking :52 off the clock before Benes scored his 2nd of 3 touchdowns  with a 27 yard scamper to make it 13-0 following the PAT. The 2 teams exchanged possessions until Benes would get TD #3 late in the 2nd quarter with :56 left in the half he scored from 3 yards out to make it 20-0.

The ensuing kickoff saw the Cats finally after 3 different returns were called back for a penalty, the Cats finally broke through in special teams as Gage Sack takes the ensuing kick 85 yards for 6. Christian Lemburg rounded out the first half scoring with a PAT to make it 20-7. The Cats picked off Jacob miller for the 2nd of 4 times to round out the halftime break at 20-7.

The Cats stayed hot on defense in the 2nd half allowing just 3 points on a Weeders Field Goal from 23 yards out that the skimmed the cross bar but found a way through the uprights to round out the scoring at 23-7.

The Cats(0-7) will be back in action at Centura on Friday on Country 96 while Boone Central(5-2) returns home and will play GICC on 1430 KRGI/105-5 FM for the C2-4 District Championship game.

Gage Sack earns Runza MVP Honors with an 85 yard Kick Return for a Touchdown as well as an interception to his stat line.
