Blase & Mavericks get set for Summit League tournament
(Omaha, NE) - Coming up Friday, April 2nd it will be the start of the Summit League Volleyball Tournament in Sioux Falls South Dakota. The field consist of only the top four teams in the conference. Denver, Omaha, South Dakota, and Kansas City. Omaha comes in as the four seed with a 13-5 record and will battle Denver Friday at 2:30pm. Playing for the Omaha volleyball team is 2018 Grand Island grad Alexa Blase. Blase in her junior season with the Mavs, so far has produced 96 kills on the season, which is third on the team, she averages 2.13 kills per set playing in 45 sets this season. Blase has a season high 14 kills twice this year at South Dakota on February 15th and again on March 12th at North Dakota. The Mavericks will try to become the first Omaha volleyball team to qualify for the NCAA Division I volleyball tournament. The tournament this year will be in Omaha at the CHI Health Center begining on April 14th. Omaha began it's reclassification to NCAA Division I in 2011 and operated as an independent school with no conference play that season, but then joined the Summit Leauge in 2012.
