BIONIC Team Launched At Northwest
(Grand Island, NE) - Northwest High School implemented a new program called the BIONIC Team. BIONIC stands for Believe It Or Not I Care. Our mission is to build a caring culture where students reach out to others who are facing challenges.
There are currently two BIONIC teams: the loss team and the medical team. The loss team reaches out to students and staff who have experienced the death of a loved one, and the medical team reaches out to hospitalized students and staff or those with extended illnesses. Our teams are student-led. There are three student leaders per team with ten members bringing our total to sixteen students (and growing). Students work together to make decisions on the teams and how we can demonstrate our support for students and staff.
