Graduate transfer Jaden Ferguson reached 1,000 career kills and senior defensive specialist Jensen Rowse reached 1,000 career digs to help No. 10 Nebraska Kearney sweep Missouri Southern State (-22, -22, -16) Friday night in Joplin.

UNK (26-3, 16-3) will fight for a share of the 2023 MIAA regular season title tomorrow at Central Missouri (20-7, 17-2). Central Oklahoma (25-4, 16-3) is also in the mix and the MIAA officially recognizes all who tie for the title.

Rowse (Minden) had 15 digs tonight to push her total to 1,013. She becomes just the 34th Loper to reach four figures in digs; note her total doesn't include the 2021 "COVID" non-countable spring season. Ferguson (Lincoln SW) amassed 726 kills in the past three years at Northwest Missouri State, not including the 2021 spring season. She now has 1,001 "fall" kills as she had 10 tonight. As usual, Ferguson had an all-around effort; a team-high 19 digs, 17 for 17 on serve receive, three blocks and an assist.

UNK outhit MSSU (15-14, 8-12) by a .257-186 margin, recorded 17 more kills and was plus four in the serve game. Besides Ferguson and Rowse, fifth-year senior outside Emersen Cyza (Alliance) had 16 kills with outside mate Asha Regier (Newton, Kan.) supplying 11 more as well as a .257 efficiency. In the back row, libero Lauren Taubenheim (Lincoln Pius) had 12 digs and was 28 of 29 in serve receive.

Fernanda Canedo and Alana Mosech had 10 kills apiece to pace the Lions.
